Alex Lovallo, Marcia Eames-Sheavly, and other affiliates of
the Cornell Garden-Based Learning, working in cooperation with Mark
Richardson, Longwood Gardens.
In this pre-Symposium workshop, plan to get your hands dirty while
participating in the creative process of making an unusual, living public
art project! The workshop will begin with an overview of living sculpture,
or art made with live plants, describing what it is, the basics of how to
create several types, and where to turn for more information. Then everyone
will join in to create an actual living sculpture on-site at Longwood
Gardens, learning the skills to complete all the necessary steps along the
way. To coincide with this workshop, the presenters will unveil a new online
project guide complete with video, sound, images, resources, and
instructions for numerous easy activities and more elaborate community-based
projects. Participants can use this resource to develop projects in their
own schools or communities.
