Heritage and Gardens of Andalusia with Madrid
Our tour of Andalusia, the largest region in Spain, comprises the cities of Seville, Jerez de la Frontera, Cordoba, Granada, Ronda, and Malaga. Through our travels, we will discover the architecture, cathedrals, castles, and palaces that offer vivid testimony to the region’s fascinating history. The Moors, the Almohads, Christopher Columbus, King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella, and Pablo Picasso are but a few of the many cultures and individuals who have left their mark on the landscape.
Gardens are also an important part of the Andalusian tradition. While the great gardens of the Alhambra in Granada and the Alcazar in Seville are widely known, there are many private and lesser-known gardens in the region and along the coast near Sotogrande that are well worth visiting. From elaborate early Islamic gardens to contemporary townhouse patio gardens, from Belle-Époque fantasies to cliff-top modernist havens, this tour will highlight the amazing diversity of Andalusia's gardens and landscapes. The tour will conclude with a visit to Madrid, where we will have the opportunity to explore private gardens designed by a top Spanish contemporary garden designer.
