Much more than a great magazine,
the American Horticultural Society creates a community of gardeners
The American
Horticultural Society relies on the generous gifts of donors to
fulfill its mission:
To open the eyes of all Americans to the vital
connection between people and plants, to inspire all
Americans to become responsible caretakers of the
Earth, to celebrate America's diversity through the
art and science of horticulture; and to lead this
effort by sharing the Society's unique national
resources with all Americans.
AHS fosters the human
connection with plants, the environmental value of SMARTGARDEN™
practices, and an appreciation of beauty in the environments we create.
AHS connects
people to gardening, from experts to amateurs –
gardeners and gardening professionals alike – to
help raise awareness of environmental gardening
practices, introduce children to plants and to
showcase both the art and science of horticulture.
If you care about gardening – whether it’s your
hobby, your passion or your profession – you should
support AHS.
The American
Horticultural Society is a non-profit organization
that relies on the donations of its members and
friends. Your contribution will enable us to
continue the many programs that bring the world of
gardening to people across the country. There are
many levels of “contributing memberships.”

I
believe there is a moral dimension to horticulture:
Gardening makes us better people, and gardens make our
communities better places to live. That's
why I and all gardeners should be supporting AHS.
— Duane Kelly, Producer of the Northwest and
San Francisco Flower &Garden Shows
It's hard to imagine any part of my life that hasn't been
touched by my passion for plants food, friends, work, and
weekends puttering in the garden. AHS is all
about creating this passion in children and supporting it in adults. I give to AHS because it shares my values.
— Brian E.Holley, Director, Cleveland Botanical Garden
There
is no other organization in our country that speaks in such a comprehensive way to serious amateur gardeners,
helping them understand the complex issues facing gardeners today.
— Katy Moss Warner, AHSPast Chair
Loeb Fellow, Harvard Graduate School of Design
