2013 marks the 40th year that the AHS has called its River Farm headquarters home in Alexandria, Virginia. The AHS was founded in 1922 , but it was headquartered at a series of different office locations around the country - primarily in the Washington, D.C., area - until 1973. That year, thanks to a generous donation from the Enid A. Haupt Charitable Trust, the AHS was able to acquire its permanent River Farm headquarters.
